The d6 School Communicator is a lightweight application that runs on every parent's computer. Information is automatically updated every time the school adds new content, even when the Communicator is not currently running. The Communicator launches every morning, so parents see your school news at least once a day. The Communicator can also be launched at any time by clicking on the desktop shortcut or via the Start menu. The school can add or edit content (including photos) using a simple web-based control panel. It requires no technical knowledge and there is a comprehensive online help system if you get stuck. Integrated workflow allows you to delegate responsibility to multiple teachers whilst still tightly controlling what they can publish. The parents receive an installation CD which they use to install the Communicator onto their computer. Once installed information is automatically sent directly to each parent's computer. All they need to do is select which information they would like to receive by selecting the grade(s) and activities in which their children are involved. (They can change these settings at any time.)
